La-z-boy DWI Chair Confiscated by Minnesota PD for sale on eBay

Guy gets busted driving his motorized la-z-boy chair, after leaving a saloon in Duluth, MN. Here is an article on the arrest.

The cops confiscate the chair and have it up for auction on eBay. Item number:150384476487. As of this posting the chair is up to $3500.

Two things come to mind here.  I guess up in the frozen north the cops do things differently than we do down in sunny Florida. But for the Duluth PD to confiscate the guys power chair seems excessive to me. And then to auction it on eBay for their departments gain really sucks. But as we all know selling something on eBay is one thing, and getting PAID is another.

eBay has a way of attracting the deadbeat bidders on high profile auctions like this. Lets see here, we had the General Lee auction end to a hijacked account, then there was the huge record collection that was won by a deadbeat. Those are the two that come to mind, but i’m sure there were others.

So it will be interesting if the cops get paid for this chair. They are not offering shipping so that could be a deal breaker in itself, as most bidders do not read the sellers shipping and payment info.

We have a brand new seller here, so PayPal will be holding the payment until the buyer leaves a positive feedback comment. What happens if the buyer ends up having buyers remorse and files a not as described claim with PayPal? Will PayPal refund the buyers money – and leave the cops with no money or power chair? And if this happens, will the cops issue a warrant for the buyer for grand theft?

And wouldn’t it be a hoot if the chairs previous owner was the high bidder and left the seller a neg? I guess we will have to sit back and wait a few days.

I think $3500 is the absolute end of the money on that thing, but it could easily reach $10k, especially if the cops are shill bidding on it from a donut shop.. LOL!
